particle motion diagram

command: PM <trc-list> <p1> [<p2>]

Draws particle motion diagrams to the PM output window (selected by "pmch" command). The trace in <trc-list> are used alternately as x and y-coordinates for the PM plots. For each pair of traces a separate PM plot is produced.

parameters

  • <trc-list> parameter type: trace list
List of traces to be displayed in particle motion diagrams. Each pair of consecutive traces is plotted in a separate diagram. The list length must be even.
  • <p1>, <p2> parameter type: real
If none of the qualifiers "/mwdw" and "/vwdw" is specified, <p1> and <p2> contain start and end of the time window (in sec, relative to the time axis) for the particle motion. If "/mwdw" is specified, <p1> is the width of the displayed window in sec, <p2> is not used. If "/vwdw" is specified neither <p1> nor <p2> is used.

qualifiers

  • /mwdw
This qualifer can be used only, if the PM output window (set by command PMCH) is different from the trace window. The graphic cursor appears in the trace window and let the user select time positions. After each selection the particle motion window is updated with the diagrams of width <p1> sec centered at the selected time. Exit from this mode by the "E"-key.
  • /vwdw
This qualifer can be used only, if the PM output window (set by command PMCH) is different from the trace window. The graphic cursor appears in the trace window and let the user select a start time and then several end times. After each end time selected the particle motion window is updated with the diagrams between start and end time. Exit from this mode by "E"-key.
  • /circle=<radius>
If this qualifier is specified, the beginning of each PM diagram is marked by a circle around the first sample. <radius> specifies the radius of the circle marker. A typical value is 0.02.

example

pm/mwdw/circle=0.02 3,2,3,1,2,1 4.
Draws three PM diagrams of the first three traces on display and marks the beginning of each diagram by a circle.
